    How long to cook

In the air fryer: it will take approximately 12 to 15 mins

In a preheated oven it will take approximately 40 mins.

How to make wings and fries

See printable recipe card at the end of this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions!

From scratch: (fresh wings and fresh potatoes)

Peel and cut the potatoes into fries, soak in water for at least 30 mins. While potatoes are soaked, pat wings dry, toss in a little oil then season with dry rub. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 20 mins or until cooked through and the internal temp reads 165°F (74°C)

You can bake wings in the oven preheated to 400°F for 30 to 35 mins or deep fry till fully cooked and golden.

When you are ready to cook the fries, drain, pat it dry. Season with salt and fry till golden brown. If you want it really crispy you can try the double fried method.

Using frozen fully cooked wings and frozen french fries

Place frozen chicken in the air fryer basket and set temperature to 400°F (200°C) then air fry for 12 to 15 mins remove from basket.

Air fry frozen French fries at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 mins. In the last minute add back the air fried wings to warm it up.

How do I keep the chicken and fries warm?

If you are cooking a large batch and are using the air fryer, consider the oven on a low setting like 200°F, transfer first batch to a parchment paper lined baking sheet then put it in the oven. Continue to transfer subsequent batches into the baking tray until you are done. Then serve.

Making smaller batches for one or two persons is easier as you can cook both at the same time.

What to serve with wings and fries

While wings and fries make a meal on their own, a few sides can round out the meal

Celery and carrot sticks - Cool, fresh veggies balance the fried food. Bleu cheese or ranch dressings pair well.

Coleslaw - Creamy slaw complements spicy wing sauces.

Dips - Extra sauces like bleu cheese, ranch, or honey mustard are great for dunking.

Beers or milkshakes - Cool, creamy drinks offset the heat of spicy wings.

    How to store and Reheat

Store wings and fries separately in sealed containers. Don't mix or they'll get soggy.

Refrigerate for 3-4 days. Reheat within that time for best quality.

Reheat wings and fries in a 350°F oven until warmed through, 10-12 minutes.

To reheat in the air fryer, set temp to 350°F and reheat for 3 to 5 mins or until heated through. Feel free to add more time as needed.

Using the microwave to reheat wings and fries work in a pinch, but they won't be as crispy.

    Tips

If making from scratch, use starchier potatoes like Russets for crisper fries. Soak cut fries in cold water for at least 30 mins, then Pat dry and salt it before frying or baking. If you plan to bake or air fry, you will need to toss in a little oil first.

Season wings and fries before cooking. You can sauce it up after cooking.

Fry wings uncovered at 350°F for tender, crispy skin. Flip during cooking.

Bake or air fry fries for a lower-fat option.

Keep sauces on the side for serving so wings and fries don't get soggy.

If you are cooking this for one or 2 persons. You can cook the fries and chicken wings together in at the same time in the air fryer 1 pound each of both can fit, it will take up to 15 mins to cook. Ensure you flip halfway through.

    FAQs

How long do cooked wings last in the fridge?

Up to 4 days in a sealed container. Reheat until hot before serving.

Can you freeze cooked wings and fries?

Yes, freeze them in individual portions for up to 4 months. To reheat air fry from frozen.

    Ingredients

    For frozen wings and fries

    • 2 lb Fully cooked frozen chicken wings
    • 1 Ib frozen fries

    Raw chicken wings

    • 2 lb chicken wings
    • 2 Tablespoon chicken wings seasoning (see note 3)
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder (makes the wings crispy)
    • 2 tablespoon oil
    • 3 medium russet potatoes (Makes about 1.5 pound of fries)

    Instructions

Using frozen fully cooked wings Method 1 (cooking wings and fries together)

    • Place ½ the chicken wings on one side of the air fryer basket and ½ the fries on the other side.
    • Set temperature to 400°F (200°C) and air fry for 12 to 15 mins, shaking the basket at least half way through or at 5 mins intervals to ensure even cooking.

Method 2 (Cooking the wings and fries individually)

    • Cook the fries at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 mins for thin cut fries or 12 to 15 mins for crinkle cut fries shaking the basket half way through. When it’s done, transfer to a plate and set aside.
    • Add wings to same basket and air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 mins or until warmed through.
    • Add back the fries in the last minute so everything is nice and warm.

    Cooking fresh wings and fries

    • Peel and cut the potatoes into fries, soak in water for at least 30 mins. While potatoes are soaked, pat wings dry, toss in a little oil then season with dry rub.
    • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 20 mins or until cooked through and the internal temp reads 165°F (74°C)
    • You can bake wings in the oven preheated to 400°F for 30 to 35 mins or deep fry till fully cooked and golden.
    • When you are ready to cook the fries, drain, pat it dry. Season with salt and fry till golden brown.

    Notes

    1. No preheat needed. Cook from frozen
    2. For the first method, I recommend regular cut fries not thick cut fries like steak fries or crinkle cut fries as this may have a longer cook time then the nuggets.
    3. For Chicken wing seasoning use 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion power, ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.

Your website is my go to when I think about what to make for dinner, but this is the first time I have commented on anything.
We eat a lot of chicken as it is the only meat my kids like.
This was such an easy dinner idea. I didn't make your seasoning and just used a jar from the store, but it was still delicious. I am going to try your rub next time.

I added some corn and some slaw but it was such a nice dinner
