Chicken wings and fries

Wings and fries are another popular fast food restaurant offering that can be made at home. Similar to our chicken nuggets and fries recipe, this combo can be made in the air fryer or oven using your favorite brands of frozen chicken wings and fries.

Ingredients
  

For frozen wings and fries

  • 2 lb Fully cooked frozen chicken wings
  • 1 Ib frozen fries

Raw chicken wings

  • 2 lb chicken wings
  • 2 Tablespoon chicken wings seasoning (see note 3)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (makes the wings crispy)
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 3 medium russet potatoes (Makes about 1.5 pound of fries)

Instructions
 

Using frozen fully cooked wings Method 1 (cooking wings and fries together)

  • Place ½ the chicken wings on one side of the air fryer basket and ½ the fries on the other side.
  • Set temperature to 400°F (200°C) and air fry for 12 to 15 mins, shaking the basket at least half way through or at 5 mins intervals to ensure even cooking.

Method 2 (Cooking the wings and fries individually)

  • Cook the fries at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 mins for thin cut fries or 12 to 15 mins for crinkle cut fries shaking the basket half way through. When it’s done, transfer to a plate and set aside.
  • Add wings to same basket and air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 mins or until warmed through.
  • Add back the fries in the last minute so everything is nice and warm.

Cooking fresh wings and fries

  • Peel and cut the potatoes into fries, soak in water for at least 30 mins. While potatoes are soaked, pat wings dry, toss in a little oil then season with dry rub.
  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 20 mins or until cooked through and the internal temp reads 165°F (74°C)
  • You can bake wings in the oven preheated to 400°F for 30 to 35 mins or deep fry till fully cooked and golden.
  • When you are ready to cook the fries, drain, pat it dry. Season with salt and fry till golden brown.

Notes

  1. No preheat needed. Cook from frozen
  2. For the first method, I recommend regular cut fries not thick cut fries like steak fries or crinkle cut fries as this may have a longer cook time then the nuggets.
  3. For Chicken wing seasoning use 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion power, ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.
